  • Led stakeholder consultations and deliberations on the policy proposal “Introduction of Regulatory Framework for Index Providers". Drafted the consultation paper, published in December 2022. Delivered a high-impact presentation to the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance (Government of India), advancing the regulatory framework for a critical class of market intermediaries.
  • Developed the strategic Board Memorandum on the regulation of Index Providers, which received SEBI Board approval in November 2023. This groundbreaking policy brought Index Providers under SEBI’s regulatory oversight, marking a significant milestone in strengthening India’s financial market framework. Privileged to participate in several SEBI Board meetings on this agenda that granted access to top level intellectual decision making process.
  • Drafted the SEBI (Index Provider) Regulations, 2024. Notified in March 2024.
  • Handled regulatory matters viz. examination of business proposals of stock exchanges and examination of bye-law amendment proposals of Stock Exchanges and Depositories to ensure compliance with SEBI (SECC) Regulations, 2018 and SEBI (D&P) Regulations, 2018.
  • Periodically carried out Inspection of the Stock Exchanges.
  • Worked extensively on the policy proposal for ‘Revision in timelines for issuance of Consolidated Account Statements (CAS)’ and changing the Mode of Dispatch for CAS to default electronic mode by the Depositories in the Indian Securities Market.

  • Contributed toward rationalisation of compliance requirements for Stock Exchanges and Depositories under the Government of India’s ‘Ease of Doing Business Reforms’, resulting in amendment of SEBI regulations governing Stock Exchanges and Depositories.
  • Managed policy matters pertaining to corporate governance such as disclosure of pecuniary interest concerning nominations for the post of Public Interest Director on the Board of Stock Exchanges, Depositories and Clearing Corporations and also processed applications pertaining to appointment of Public Interest Directors on the Governing Board of Stock Exchanges.
